چکیده

Because the quality assessment of Persistent Scatterers (PS) is dependent on the deformation model chosen, PS may be falsely rejected due to model imperfections. To accept these PS, more advanced deformation models should be used. However, the decreased rank of the estimation problem increases the chance of unwrapping errors. Therefore, advanced deformation models should only be applied when necessary. Two methods applying adaptive deformation models are proposed. They are based on a sequential scheme of alternative hypothesis testing within the integer least-squares framework. Application of the technique to a salt mining area in The Netherlands confirms the increase in the number of detected PS.

Land Subsidence Monitoring in Australia and China using Satellite Interferometry

Continued excessive extraction of groundwater may lead to significant land subsidence, which causes economic loss. The aim of this research is to investigate ground subsidence in several Australian capital cities using the Persistent Scatterer Interferometry approach. Such studies may help improve our understanding of the deformation of terrain and built structures, and evaluate the effectivene...

Persistent Scatterer Interferometry Using Sentinel-1 Data

This paper is focused on deformation monitoring using a Persistent Scatterer Interferometry technique and the interferometric SAR data acquired by the Sentinel-1 satellite of the European Space Agency. The first part of the paper describes the procedure used to process and analyze Sentinel-1 interferometric SAR data. Two main approaches are described. The first one is a simplified Persistent Sc...

Application of Persistent Scatterer Interferometry for Land Subsidence Monitoring in Sydney, Australia using ENVISAT ASAR Data

The aim of this research is to investigate the terrain deformation in the metropolitan area of Sydney using multiple satellite radar imagery. The persistent scatterer interferometry (PSI) strategy developed at Geodesy and Earth Observing Systems Group (GEOS) of the University of New South Wales (UNSW) is used to map the land deformation in Sydney with C-band ENVISAT radar images in this study. ...

A multi-temporal InSAR method incorporating both persistent scatterer and small baseline approaches

[1] Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry is a technique that provides high-resolution measurements of the ground displacement associated with many geophysical processes. Advanced techniques involving the simultaneous processing of multiple SAR acquisitions in time increase the number of locations where a deformation signal can be extracted and reduce associated error. Currently there a...

On the Selection Criteria for Pixel Candidates in Psi: Potentials of Polarimetry

In this paper we demonstrate some benefits of using polarimetric data in persistent scatterers interferometry (PSI). A polarimetric optimization approach is applied to TerraSAR-X dual-pol data, leading to a significant increase in the number of persistent scatterer candidates (PSCs) selected by the most commonly used criteria of quality, namely the amplitude dispersion index and the average int...
